15" (38 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head, black sculpted short hair with forelock detail, enamel eyes with heavy eyelids, incised character line one forehead and cheeks, shaded beard stubble, mouth modeled as though nearly closed with painted teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted brown stockings with detailed sculpting of wrinkles, tan shoes with black buckles, wearing green short pants, silk vest with gold thread embroidery, green jacket. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, especially fine sculpting and artistic painting.
