Description
13" (33 cm.) Designed to appear as a tall chest with bombe-shaped drawer fronts, the top three drawer fronts are actually faux, hinging down to form a desk surface and with interior drawer. Below are four drawers with dove-tailed construction flanked by chamfered edging. The secretaire is decorated with bronze mounts and beading, and has painted gilt flowers and garlands at the front, and a spray of colorful flowers at the top. The quality of the workmanship indicates production for a luxury goods store such as Maison Giroux of Paris, circa 1860. Excellent condition.
