23" (58 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with very full lips and suggestion of tongue tip between the outlined lips, dimpled chin and philtrum, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body, ivory silk and lace dress, early silk frou-frou bonnet, undergarments, socks, shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 9 (head) Bebe Bru No. 9 (body). Comments: Maison Bru, circa 1888, the ball-jointed body was introduced by the firm at that time to compete with the popular Jumeau bebe, this example still retaining the superb gentle-faced Bru face. Value Points: outstanding example of the transitional bebe with finest bisque, complexion and painting, original body.
