17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, very full cheeks and throat, amber brown glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows, accent dots at eye corners and nostrils, open mouth with shaded and outlined lips, row of painted teeth, rubber ball mechanism in head designed to create the baby sucking action when metal keywind at back of head was turned, curved kid arms to below the elbows, bisque forearms with separately-sculpted fingers, kid torso and legs with gusset-jointing at hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent, rubber ball is intact albeit dried. Marks: Bru Jne 5 T (head) 1 T (shoulderplate) Depose (front shoulderplate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his Bebe Teteur, circa 1882. Value Points: pristine and all original with flawless bisque of head, shoulderplate, and hands, beautiful quality of bisque and painting, very sturdy near mint body, along with original factory costume.
