Description
5" (13 cm.) All-bisque with sculpted hair and swivel head, painted facial features, loop-jointed limbs, painted brown ankle boots, exuberantly modeled topknot and side-wing curls in reddish-brown, blue right-glancing googly eyes, very full smiling lips. Condition: imperceptible one-piece reglue midway of topknot, otherwise excellent. Marks: 410 (arms and legs). Comments: Kestner, circa 1915, inspired by the character Moritz from the 19th-century children's books of Wilhelm Busch, and re-popularized in the early 20th-century American comic strip, The Katzenjammer Kids. Value Points: amazingly accurate depiction of the devilish imp, of finest bisque and sculpting, this being the rarest variation with sculpted and painted costume.
