23" (58 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very delicate bisque and very full cheeks and throat, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with well-defined spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with tiny tongue tip between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: F. 10 G. (doll) 10 (inside wig). Comments: Gaultier, circa 1880. Value Points: early period bebe from Gaultier with superb delicate bisque which contrasts the very plump face, splendid eyes, original body and body finish, lovely antique costume including rose silk dress, undergarments, rose knit stockings, leather shoes, ruffled lace bonnet, and parasol.
