Pressed and oil-painted facial features, blue painted eyes with heavy eyelids, single-stroke brows, aquiline nose, closed mouth, strong definition of jaw, impasto thickly painted white hair that forms into a ponytail at the nape, cotton sateen body cover, stitch-jointed arms and legs, oil-painted hands and feet, defined fingers and toes, wearing factory-original blue and gold silk suit, black stockings, shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Chase doll (with logo image on leg).The Chase Stockinette Doll Made of Stockinette and Cloth... (original paper label on back). Comments: Martha Chase, late 19th century, portrait doll of George Washington as he appeared in the 1784 Charles Willson Peale painting "George Washington at the Battle of Princeton".
