Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid pate, brown glass inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the pale outlined lips, pierced ears, mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, nice antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 10. Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1885, the model closely resembles the early French bisque portrait bebe whose market the doll aimed to capture. Value Points: very fine quality of bisque and painting, appealing expression, original body and body finish. Included with the doll are three miniature pups by Steiff.
