Description
4" (10 cm.) 2 1/2". The rectangular silver plated box has very deeply raised designs of birds, scrolls and foliage, with unusual curve-shaped front and sides, lever in the shape of a bird, and an oval hinged lid with impressed design of birds. When wound and lever released, the oval lid pops opens, a feathered bird pops up, turning from side to side, flitting its wings, and tweeting bird songs, and then pops down and the lid closes. Excellent condition, mechanism functions well, original key is preserved in hinged compartment at the back. Swiss, Griesbaum, circa 1950, the box is preserved in its original velvet lined leather case with paper instructions for "handling the bird box".
