Description
33" (84 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head, plump round face, black painted hair with feathered details of hair around the forehead, black enamel eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, open mouth, two square cut upper teeth and two lower teeth, rosy cheeks, kid poupee body with gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees, stitched and separated fingers and toes. Condition: original finish, light lip rub, body is original albeit very worn. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: grand size of the early poupee, original facial finish with lustrous complexion, wearing early cotton gown, undergarments, beautiful woven slippers, and also owning two additional costumes, undergarments, and another pair of woven slippers, along with wooden case in which the doll has been stored for 175 years.
