13" (33 cm.) Amber-tinted bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, brown glass inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, black painted lashes, curved one-stroke brows, two painted beauty marks, closed mouth with center accent line, very firm poupee body with gusset jointing at hips and knees, kid upper arms, and amber-tinted bisque arms to above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1. Comments: French, circa 1867, the doll was likely created to appeal to foreign visitors at the 1867 Paris International Exposition. Value Points: an outstanding doll, rare at its time, and virtually unfindable today in this perfectly preserved original costume of elaborately draped and ornamented silks and brocade including wrapped turban, bracelet, ankle bracelets, pearls, and having two beauty marks on exquisite complexion.
