Bisque socket head, blue glass inset eyes, closed mouth, blonde mohair wig with soft ringlet curls and curly bangs, composition body jointed at shoulders and hips, painted flat black shoes. Condition: near mint. Marks: 221 3/0 (head). Comments: French, SFBJ, mid-1900s, from a series of historical portraits of 19th century ladies and royalty. Value Points: beautiful portrait of Madame de Sevigne wearing original striped purple taffeta gown with gilt metallic edging, black patterned overskirt, blouse, black velvet ribbons, original Jumeau gilt paper label with ink-script note "Marquise de Sevigne Femme Celebre, Siecle de Louis XIV, Epoque 1660", original stand and original box with FAO Schwarz label and paper label "Marquise de Sevigne 60/1".
