16" (41 cm.) Standing upon a red velvet covered platform is a bisque-headed court performer as musician,with bisque oval-shaped slender face,brilliant blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,painted dark curly lashes,feathered brows,aquiline nose,closed mouth with accented lips,pierced ears,blonde caracul wig over cork pate,carton torso and legs,bisque lower arms,wearing fancy silk costume and holding a wooden mandolin. When wound,music plays and the performer nods and turns his head while sttumming the mandolin. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Roullet et Decamps,circa 1885. Value Points: with original key,the music and mechanism function well,the automaton enhanced by stunningly beautiful bisque head and eyes.
