10" (25 cm.) Terra cotta sculpted head in uptilted pose with very windblown tousled curls, sculpted ears, enamel eyes, painted facial features, closed mouth modeled as though open with teeth and tongue tip, hemp-wrapped body with terra cotta hands and lower legs, expressively-posed fingers, painted white stockings and black shoes with red flaps. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1800s. Value Points: especially fine sculpting and painting, the village boy wears original silk costume with silver buttons, and carries a wooden bucket.
