8" (20 cm.) l. Seated in a woven carriage resting upon a thin wire frame with metal spoked wheels is a small doll with paper mache head, tiny enamel eyes, black painted pate, open mouth, tiny upper and lower teeth, bellows torso, wooden arms, antique gown and lace bonnet. When the carriage is pulled along, or when bellows is squeezed, the baby cheerfully waves its arms up and down. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: remarkably fine state of preservation of the early toy.
