Sculpted terra cotta shoulder head depicting adult woman with brown hair comb marked away from her face and captured under a green fitted bonnet with red bow, painted facial features, glazed brown eyes, mouth sculpted as though open with two upper teeth and tongue, pierced ears with original earrings, hemp-wrapped body, terra cotta hands and lower legs, expressively-posed fingers, painted white stockings and yellow shoes. Condition: generally excellent, frailty of skirt silk. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1800s, depicting a village woman. Value Points: fine original and well-preserved condition of the rare bonnet-head woman, with expressive features, original silk and brocade costume.
