20" (51 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with modeled tongue tip between the shaded and outlined lips, dimpled chin, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, distinctive body of padded stockinette over metal armature, composition lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent, paint chip below the left ear. Marks: F. 8 G (head and shoulders) (Gesland stamp on torso). Comments: Gaultier, circa 1885. Value Points: dramatic large eyes lend a character expression, accentuating the formal gentleman's costume with velvet jacket and silk lapels, trousers, umbrella, top hat.
