17" (43 cm.) Carved wooden lady with one-piece figure of slender-bodied woman with oval face and elongated throat, her head tilted forward, sculpted brown hair with deeply combmarked hair brushed smoothly over her ears and captured in a looped chignon at the back of her head, sculpted facial features, very heavy eyelids, down-gazing eyes, closed mouth, pin-jointed shoulders, wrapped stiffened linen skirt, sculpted sandals, individually sculpted fingers and toes, a small carved wooden baby held in right hand (left arm missing), Condition: generally excellent but as noted. Comments: Continental, early 1800s. Value Points: superb detailing of facial and hair carving, wonderful face of little baby.
