Description
18" (46 cm.) Solid domed head of honey-toned wax with socket neck, defined baby hair and brows, eyes modeled in nearly-closed manner, closed mouth, modified classic Bye-lo cloth body with constructed neck form to support socket head. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: circa 1922, Bye-lo, the wax model was especially commissioned by Grace Story Putnam for exclusive distribution by luxury New York City stores; at one time it was stated that only 150 of the dolls had been made, and their rarity today would seem to support that, although the exact number is uncertain. Value Points: very rare variation of the keynote American doll.
