Very Rare American Wooden Figures from "Teddy's Adventures in Africa" by Schoenhut

8" (20 cm.) Each is all-wooden with carved and painted details, and original costumes on persons. The set comprises three members of the Safari troop with yellow wooden helmets, and four African natives. Along with the following animals: Style II painted eye gorilla, painted eye alligator with original leather feet, style II hyena with painted eyes, style IV painted eye Arabian camel, style I glass-eyed Zebu, style II glass-eyed giraffe, style II glass-eyed ostrich, style III painted eye zebra, glass-eyed dark horse with leather saddle (one stirrup missing), glass-eyed gazelle (missing horns). Along with African drum, sabre champagne bottle and grain bag. Fair to good condition, unrestored. The safari figures with inspired by the 1909 expedition of Teddy Roosevelt to Africa.
