Description
10" (25 cm.) x 5" box. 8" doll. 7" mirror. The heavy card stock box is decorated on the lid with an engraving of a fashionable woman of the 1840 era and labeled "La Poupee Modele". Inside the box is heavy stock double-sided paper doll whose base is labeled "Published by R. Ackermann, Jun 191 Regent st. Sold also at 96 Strand". Along with the doll are six lovely double-sided paper costumes accented with little touches of gilt vernisee, and five matching hats. There are two miniature cards describing a gown, and the box also bears the Ackermann label. Included is the original wooden mirror which was sold with the set. Costumes, doll and mirror excellent, box has some darkening and missing one edge on lid. French, for the English market, circa 1850.
