27" (69 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with angular face and deeply-sculpted features, blue eyes, aquiline nose, firmly-set lips of closed mouth, defined ears, human hair inset into scalp, long slender wooden body with ball-jointed waist, dowel-articulated at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles, separately-carved fingers. Condition: generally excellent, original finish with some scuffing. Comments: Continental, late 18th century, the distinctive body style was later adapted by Leon Casimir Bru for his deposed wooden poupee body. Value Points: rare early model with compelling presence, handsome visage, rare hair style, elaborate articulation of body, and wearing early silk costume including embroidered vest.
