Description
8" (20 cm.) All-wooden brown-complexioned character depicting African native, socket head, jointed arms and legs, painted black hair under attached patterned cotton turban, painted eyes, black brows, closed mouth with pronounced lips. Excellent condition. Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1909, from Teddy's Adventures in Africa series, the rarely found character, depicting African native drummer is in superb original condition with original tacked-on turban and pants with sash, and is carrying wooden drum and drumsticks.
