Description
8" (20 cm.) Teddy. Each is all-wooden with carved and painted details, including Teddy Roosevelt with his highly characterized hair, beard, spectacles, boots, and wearing original uniform (lacking helmet and rifle), native guide with original costume, gorilla with sculpted ears, rhino, alligator (leather feet not original), and single hump camel with glass eyes. Very good overall condition. American, Schoenhut, the set was introduced by the firm in 1909, to commemorate Teddy Roosevelt's safari to Africa to collect specimens for the Smithsonian Museum.
