9" (23 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck designed to fit to composition dowel emerging from torso, large blue glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, single-stroke brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, auburn fleecy hair, original paper mache body jointed at shoulders and hips, painted stockings and high ankle boots, antique silk dandy's costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Sonneberg, circa 1885. Value Points: rare construction of the early closed mouth doll with dramatic deep eyes.
