23" (58 cm.) Wax shoulder head lady doll with slightly elongated throat, black glass eyes that open and close from wire lever in torso, painted facial features and cheek blush, closed mouth with hint of smile, original blonde mohair wig in soft ringlet curls, muslin stitch-jointed body, leather arms with unusual thumb structure. Condition: generally excellent, slight wax dent below left eye. Comments: England, circa 1865. Value Points: beautifully preserved condition of the early wax lady with rare sleep eyes, wearing superb original silk taffeta gown with beading, undergarments, fabulous bonnet of velvet and silk, and red leather shoes with tan kidskin soles marked C.C.
