Description
9" (23 cm.) seated. 8" l. Seated upon a decorated wooden platform with metal spoked wheels is a young lad with bisque head, sculpted brown short curly hair, blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, wooden block torso and lower limbs, wire upper limbs, antique costume, painted boots. He is holding metal gongs in his hands, and there is a decorated metal bell attached to a spiral wire at the front. When pulled along, he turns his head from side to side and taps the bell. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: for a luxury French toy store such as Au Paradis des Enfants, circa 1870, with original bisque head that is likely from the works of Simon and Halbig. Value Points: rare toy in impeccable original condition, very fine quality of bisque and sculpting of the rare bisque head.
