Standing upon a velvet covered base is a bisque-headed man with ebony black complexion and highly characterized expression, black glass eyes, strong cheeks and jaw bones, open mouth, black fleecy wig, wire upper arms, carton torso and legs of slender man, black bisque hands with beautifully sculpted fingers posed to hold cigarette and cane, wearing gentleman's suit of black leggings, white satin vest, magenta silk jacket, with gold watch and chain, "diamond" stickpins, cuff links and buttons. When wound, he turns his head is detailed rolling motion, then draws his cigarette to his mouth, alternating with lifting his cane as though gesticulating. Music plays throughout. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: LB (key) N 11 (head). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890, with rare bisque character head attributed to Jumeau and made exclusively for this automaton.
