Description
9" (23 cm.) and 11". Each has carved wooden head with deeply-sculpted and painted facial features and hair, wooden hands and feet, cloth body, with original costume by the artist. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: both created by Chicago artist, Avis Lee, 1940s, and acquired by noted mid-American collector, Emily Kasch from whose estate collection they are being sold; the organ grinder was acquired by Kasch from the New York doll store of the infamous Velvalee Dickenson according to the Kasch inventory records. Value Points: the wonderful occupational pair include "Spike, Photographer of 1890" with his wooden camera, and "Guiseppe", organ grinder with carved wooden monkey.
