13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of lady with well-formed bosom, sculpted red head turban wrapped cap which extends into a snood capturing her hair at the nape but allowing little curls in front of her fully sculpted ears, enamel inset eyes, closed mouth, tow-wrapped posable body, carved wooden arms and legs, painted green stockings, carved black shoes with red buckles, wearing fine original silk costume with silk tunic jacket trimmed with gilt braid, burgundy silk skirt, apron with woven design and carrying woven basket of little mushrooms. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, rare design of modeled snood enhanced by her sideways pose.
