22" (56 cm.) w. x 14"h. Made of fine walnut and fruitwood with rich graining,the Empire-style sofa features graceful curves and a well-executed carved crest at the center back,original horsehair mattress,chintz upholstery and a wide hidden compartment below the seat that accesses when the front bottom panel is pulled out. A pencil signature,C. Anderson,is scrawled across the unfinished back. Circa 1840. Excellent condition. Ex-collection Legoland Museum of Dolls.
