Description
6 1/2" (17 cm.) One-piece bisque head and torso, grey glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, closed mouth modeled as though open with large generous smile, original brunette mohair wig, loop-jointed bisque arms and legs, modeled bent elbows with pointing finger on right hand, painted white stockings to above the knees, black one-strap shoes. Condition: generally excellent, stringing loop of right arm is repaired. Marks: JIO c. 1920 (incised) 47/17 (inside limbs). Vivi Re US Pat. Off. Copr. J.I. Orsini 1920 Pat. Appl'd For (paper). Comments: one of the trio of character dolls designed by the American artist, circa 1920, made in Germany. Value Points: rare doll with wonderful expression achieved by especially fine sculpting, original paper label.
