12" (30 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting adult man, very thickly sculpted charcoal-grey brown moustache and beard, painted small blue eyes, closed mouth, French body jointed at the shoulders and hips, painted knee-high black boots, antique uniform. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D.L. Comments: Damerval & Laffranchy, who in 1910 presented a series of art character heads; the firm was mentioned in the 1910 article "The Renaissance of the French Doll". Value Points: uniquely modeled face with unusual definition of brows, moustache and beard suggesting a specific personage.
