Description
13" (33 cm.) All-composition with socket head, jointing at shoulders and legs, hazel sleep eyes, human hair lashes, open mouth with smiling expression, blonde mohair ringlet-curled hair. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Shirley Temple 13. Comments: Ideal, circa 1938; from the original Shirley Temple family archives. In her 1945 book, "My Young Life", Shirley Temple related her fascination with the wardrobe department of Fox, and her friendship with Ande, the wardrobe woman. "During the making of a picture, I would pick out the costume I liked best, and Ande would dress a doll in a miniature duplicate of that costume, made from scraps of the same material". This doll is one such example. Value Points: truly one-of-a-kind, wearing blue chambray overalls and plaid shirt in exact style and materials as the actual costume worn by Shirley in her film role, along with woven farmer's straw hat and carrying a miniature black and white piglet as from the runaway piglet scene in the film. Included is certificate of authenticity from the original auction where it was presented in 2015.
