Description
17" (43 cm.) by 14". Arranged on the front of a wooden frame are a die-cut pair of cakewalk dancers in vibrant lithographed colors and with enthusiastic performing poses. When wound at the back, the pair are designed to dance around, with movement back and forth of torsos which when cause their heads and limbs to move as though dancing. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism needs adjustment although if manually operated the figures move correctly. Marks: The Cakewalk (original label inside box along with instructions for use). Comments: Schoenhut, circa 1890, the base of the box was intended to serve as a shadowbox for hanging, with the owner to supply a decorative frame. Value Points: extremely rare to find, especially in its original box.
