Description
5" (13 cm.) diam. tureen. Of fine white porcelain with green borders, burgundy and gilt pencil stripe edging, and medallion-framed floral arrangements, the service comprises large double-handled lidded tureen, pair of footed lattice-rimmed compotes, lidded sauce dish with underplate, two lidded casserole dishes, two footed serving plates, footed sauce dish, large bowl, six soup dishes, five small plates, two large serving plates, two oval platters, two small sauce dishes. Along with eight pewter napkin rings, five pewter goblets, cutlery, and a pair of metal three-arm candlesticks. The set was presented in original box with Alphonse Giroux label. Porcelain dishes and accessories are excellent, box is extremely worn. French, the set was presented by the prestige Paris store of Alphonse Giroux which specialized in luxury goods for children and homes, circa 1875.
