26" (66 cm.) All-wooden doll with oval shaped head, elongated throat, high domed forehead, heavily modeled eyelids, brown enamel eyes, thin feathered brows, aquiline nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, tendrils of blonde mohair curls at the sides of head, shapely torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and ankles. Condition: generally excellent, original finish on head, three fingers restored and retouch to hands, most of original hair is missing. Comments: Continental, late 1700s. Value Points: outstanding early wooden doll with complete articulation, fine state of original painted finish of face, wearing original ivory silk costume with richly encrusted gold metallic embroidery, matching slippers, fitted cap with gilt metallic jeweled embroidery.
