13" (33 cm.) l. 10" circ. Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, sculpted short brown hair with deeply defined forelock curls, tiny blue glass inset eyes, shaded brows, rounded nose tip with nostril accents, open mouth with shaded and outlined lips, porcelain teeth, tongue, muslin body, composition lower limbs, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, finish on hands worn. Marks: Gladdie Copyright by Helen W. Jensen. Comments: Germany, circa 1925, the doll was designed by the American artist Helen Jensen and commissioned by George Borgfeldt from German doll makers in both bisque and earthenware. Value Points: rare bisque version of the Gladdie character has superb sculpting and painting.
