17" (43 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with full lower cheeks and chin, pale complexion, blue glass spiral-threaded inset eyes with darker blue outer rims, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, separately modeled pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, very faint original line at front crown rim with tiny flake (under wig). Marks: C/EJ (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (and original boutique label on back torso). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1882, earliest model of the signed EJ bebe; the "C" model is very rarely found. Value Points: most beautiful bebe with gorgeous eyes, delicate bisque, original body and body finish, wearing very fine original cutwork dress, undergarments, aqua satin bonnet, Jumeau earrings, stockings, and kidskin shoes with silk rosettes.
