9 1/2" (24 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with black sculpted hair waved from her face, formed into a coronet at the crown and held by a snood at the back of her head, painted facial features, painted blue eyes, black upper eyeliner, closed mouth, original muslin body, porcelain lower arms and legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1870. Value Points: the doll was created as "Sewing Companion" according to directions given in various lady's journals of the era, wearing original red woolen/brown velvet dress with attached brown velvet "pockets" containing various sewing tools such as scissors, thimbles, needles and such.
