12" (30 cm.) Textured composition head with flanged neck, sculpted hair with topknot, large pointy ears, painted facial features with squinty angled eyes, upturned nose, angled brows, wide beaming smile, original teddy bear mohair body with excelsior filling. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Horsman, circa 1911, the "Billiken Teddy Doll", designed to capture the teddy bear market, was advertised in the 1910 Siegel-Cooper Catalog described as "nothing funnier made, brings joy to all". Value Points: rare model with wonderfully preserved teddy body, original (albeit illegible) cloth label.
