17" (43 cm.) An all cloth doll with sculpted facial features and oil-painted complexion and features, blue eyes with strong red and blue eyeliner, brows, eye shadow and blush, closed mouth, brunette hair arranged with ringlet curls, slender body with padded armature form. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: portrait doll of Lady Hamilton designed by Dorothy Heizer, circa 1930's. The premiere American doll artist, one of charter founding members of NIADA, has works featured in the Smithsonian and in a special collection at the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey. Value Points: superb artistry of the handmade American doll with original velvet and taffeta costume depicting the famous English courtesan of the late 18th century. The doll is being sold from the private collection of its original owner, Mrs. Samuel Yellin of Philadelphia who purchased it directly for Dorothy Heizer.
