9" (23 cm.) Seated in a woven carriage on wire frame with spoked tinplate wheels is a baby with paper mache shoulder head, painted black hair with stippled curls, tiny enamel eyes, open mouth, double row of teeth, wooden block torso which attaches to bellows mechanism and wire frame, wooden limbs, and wearing original costume. When pulled along, the baby bounces up and down in carriage. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1840. Value Points: delightful early toy with original finish, original costume and lace cap, impeccably-preserved.
