21" (53 cm.) Black cotton sateen doll with stitch-pressed facial features, center-seamed face, embroidered eye whites, nostrils and wide beaming smile, shoe-button eyes, bangle earrings, black fur wig under cotton bandana, unusually shaped cotton sateen body with splayed legs and arms, wearing old cotton dress. Condition: generally excellent, body re-stitching. Comments: American, late 19th century. Value Points: wonderful use of found material in the creation of the doll with lively animated facial expression.
