Description
18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque head doll with brown glass paperweight eyes, lushly painted lashes, brushstroked brows, rose-blushed eye shadow, closed mouth, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, in vintage silk and velvet costume depicting a chef, holding a wine bottle in one hand and a copper pan in the other. When wound, he turns head side to side and then nods toward the bottle which he appears to lift to his lips for a drink; his left arm moves forward and back and music plays. Value Points: charming automaton in beautiful presentation, with well-functioning amusing motions and fine music.
