Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing on a (worn) velvet covered wooden box is a bisque-headed doll with blue paperweight eyes, closed mouth, blonde mohair fleecy wig, bisque forearms, holding a wooden mandolin in her arms. When wound and lever released, music plays and she strums the mandolin, turning her head from side to side and then nodding. Condition: generally excellent, costume is all original but silk is quite worn. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 3. Comments: Roullet & Decamps, circa 1890, a beautiful companion lady to #193, with superb original costume indicating original luxury commission. The pair were featured in Estrid Faurholt's Book of Dolls and Dollhouses, from her collection, and later acquired by the Legoland Museum.
