Description
16" (41 cm.) Solid domed paper mache socket head with fine creamy complexion, painted shaded brown hair with defined tendrils, dark glass enamel inset eyes, painted lower lashes, shaded brows, well-modeled ears, pierced ears, paper mache upper torso and lower limbs, cloth upper limbs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Japanese, circa 1920s, the model, Ichimatsu, designed as a play doll. Value Points: pristine condition of the wonderfully characterized doll, with fine painting, and wearing original rare-colored kimono with symbolic designs, brocade obi, silk slippers, and preserved in original glass-front wooden box.
