18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered base is a bisque-head girl with swivel head on bisque shoulder-plate, blue glass paperweight eyes, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair curly wig, shapely carton torso and elongated slender legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. When wound, the doll turns her head and nods, while alternately fanning herself and lifting the gilt ormolu lorgnette to her eyes, while music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1 (head) Cloches de Corneville (paper tune label on base) Magasin des Enfants Jouets et Jeux Passage de l'Opera (paper label on underside of base, and silver medallion on velvet cover). Comments: Leopold Lambert, circa 1890. Value Points: pristine preserved condition, the doll wears most unusual original costume of petals with hand-painted design, including bonnet, and carries aqua silk fan and elaborate lorgnette, presented on original base under glass dome (not photographed).
