16" (41 cm.) Bisque shoulder head,cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes,painted lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with pale accented lips,un-pierced ears,blonde lambswool wig over cork pate,kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows,hips and knees,stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent,body especially firm and strong. Comments: French,circa 1865. Value Points: the gentleman wears his original woolen suit with silk brocade vest,leather boots,wonderful top hat with maker's gilt seal inside,and carries a leather folio dated 1864. He is presented in his finely-crafted wooden trunk with silk lining,dove-tailed construction and brass claw feet. The trunk contains a variety of gentleman's accessories including small leather trunk,leather papeterie,globe (originally as candy container),skates,leather spats,bone-handled umbrella with brown silk cover,pipe in leather case,miniature pistol with mother-of-pearl handle in velvet-lined case,watch and fob,book of Shakespeare,spectacles and included is a wonderful ebony wooden miniature tray with hand-painted scene of children playing jeu de quilles,with set of six blown glass goblets and matching decanter.
