Description
13" (33 cm.) Firmly shaped head with shaded dark brown mohair cover, excelsior filled body and jointed limbs, cut-out eye sockets and open mouth, painted teeth, inset "movable" eyes and tongue, brown felt paw pads. Condition: excellent. Marks: Peter, ges gesch Nr 895256 (label on bear) (and original paper label on box with illustration of bear). Comments: Gebruder Sussenguth, circa 1924, the bear was produced in four sizes (this being the smallest) for a few years only; described as having "lateral movement of eyes and tongue,brought about by gravity". Value Points: rare teddy in wonderfully-preserved condition, in original box along with 1920 era original Sussenguth catalog depicting other bears and dolls available from the firm.
